About the event
Ace the ACT is Montgomery's premier college and career test prep resource. Â Our course is unique because it not only delves into content skills and testing strategies, but it also places a heavy emphasis on study skills and career planning.
This is an online course. Â Class sessions will be held for 8 weeks on every Tuesday and Thursday starting August 27th and going through October 17th. Â Classes will be from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Â This is in preparation for students to take the ACT exam on October 26th. Â (Note: The deadline for registering for that exam is September 20.)
Frequently Asked Questions:
- Who is this program for? This is for 10th through 12th grade students ---both first-time and repeating test takers--- wanting to increase their potential for making their desired score through rigorous content training. Â In addition, this program helps students gain valuable knowledge of the career and college research process.
- Who is teaching this program? The developers of Ace the ACT are Derek and Ashley Lovett. Â They are secondary education teachers and have been conducting ACT prep for well over five years. Â Presumably they will be the primary instructors; however, additional qualified instructors may be utilized.
- Where and when will this program be held? It is virtual. Â In addition, we are working to set up "hubs" where students in Montgomery and surrounding areas can work afterschool on their devices. Â The sessions are scheduled for one hour (4 - 5 pm CST) on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Â Dates and times may slightly change, as necessary, up until the start of the second week. Â (See refund policy below.)
- How do I access the live sessions? A unique Zoom Link will be sent to the email you share with us upon registration. Â This link will be shared with you prior to the first session and can be used to access the sessions over the 8-week duration.
- What materials are required? Students only need to have access to a device, preferably a laptop or a desktop in which they can clearly see the ACT live instruction. Â In addition, students will want to keep a notebook to take notes during the live sessions and work out practice problems on their own.
- How do I access resources for this program? Resources will be housed in the program module on this site. Â You will be emailed a link to set up your free account and access the program resources after registration.
- Can I get a refund if I cancel? Yes, you may cancel and receive a full refund if you do so prior to the first session. Â If you cancel before the the start of Week 2 of the program, you will be refunded 80% of payment. Â No refunds are available thereafter. Â Nonetheless, if for any unforeseen circumstances this course is canceled at any point, you will be refunded in full.
